Heaven in a bowl, I tell you!

I still remember tasting my first smoothie bowl when I first moved to Hawaii. After a long day at the beach, the cold smoothie, crunchy granola and refreshing fruit sweetened by local honey hit the SPOT!

My cute husband and I have made these almost every single weekend since we got married and I hope we can keep that tradition going FOREVA.

We used to make our açaí in our Blendtec blender, but I could never get that sorbet-like texture that my favorite north shore stops, Banzai Bowls and Haleiwa Bowls, have mastered.

BUT THEN. For my birthday last year, he got me this Blendtec Twister Jar which has been a GAME CHANGER! Now we can get that perfectly smooth ice cream texture to our açaí every single time.

The awesome part about making your own smoothie bowls is you can make them as massive and loaded with toppings as you want!

Using my homemade almond milk and a scoop of homemade granola in this recipe just takes the flavors up a notch! Although I love me some Costco Nature’s Path Pumpkin Seed and Flax granola, too.

Also, if you ever find yourself on Kauai, you NEED to head over to ‘Anakē’s Juice Bar and treat yo-self to a big ol’ HULK BOWL. My favorite smoothie bowl of all time!

Like I still dreeeeam about that one.

Rainbow Açaí Bowls

A refreshing taste of Aloha all year long!

Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes
Servings 2

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup almond milk, cashew milk, or other liquid of choice (plus more as needed)
  • 2 Sambazon açaí packets (slightly melted)
  • 3/4 cup frozen mixed berries or blueberries
  • 1 frozen banana, peeled and chopped
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

Instructions

  1. Run water over the açaí packets to soften them a little, then add them to the blender with your liquid of choice. Blend until smooth.

  2. Add frozen berries, banana, and chia seeds and blend until smooth. I usually have to stop and add a little more liquid to get the blender going before it all comes together.

  3. Pour a little granola into the bottom of two bowls and distribute the açaí smoothie between the bowls. Top with delicious toppings of your choice. We love our bowls topped with granola, banana, mango, kiwi, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, flaked coconut, cacao nibs, and of course a drizzle of HONEY!
